MRI contrast safety issues

After 17 years and millions of patients being administered IV MR contrast the US FDA has issued a stern black-box warning on the contrast agents warning about the possible potential danger of developing NSF in renal compromised patients. Is this justified? Dr. Semelka writes a good critique of the situation at http://www.medscape.com/viewprogram/6746_pnt
